Vazhai Podimas
Ingredients (for 2 persons):
- Raw Banana 2 nos
- Grated coconut 1/2 cup
- Ginger a small piece
- Fresh lemon 1 no
- Green chillies 1 -2
- Mustard seeds one teaspoon
- Split Urad dal one teaspoon
- Dry Red Chili 1-2
- Oil two teaspoons
- Curry leaves a few
- Coriander leaves a few
- Salt to taste
- Hing powder a little to taste
- Cut the raw bananas into halves and boil it in a bowl of water till the banana becomes soft.
- The skin color will change and the skin will start to loosen.
- Let it cool.
- Peel off the skins.
- Cut the ginger, green chillies into small pieces.
- Using a carrot grater, grate the cooked bananas.
- Pour oil in a pan or kadai and put in the mustard seeds, urad dal, wait till the mustard splutters. Add the red chili,green chillies, ginger pieces, curry leaves and saute for a minute.
- Add the grated bananas, the hing powder and salt.
- Add the grated coconut.
- Mix well.
- Before removing from heat, squeeze the lemon over it,mix thoroughly.
