Panneer Butter Masala

  1. Paneer ( Cottage Cheese) diced 1/2 cup
  2. Onion 1 large
  3. Tomato 1 large
  4. Fresh or frozen green peas 1/2 cup
  5. Garlic 1 clove finely chopped
  6. Cloves 2
  7. Cardamom 2 
  8. Cinnamon a small piece or 1/4 teaspoon powdered Cinnamon
  9. Saunf - 1 teaspoon
  10. Red chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
  11. Cashew nuts broken 1/4 cup
  12. Oil for frying 2 teaspoons
  13. Butter 1 table spoon
  14. Salt to taste
  1. Fry the paneer in a teaspoon of oil till it becomes golden brown. Keep aside.
  2. Boil the green peas and keep aside.
  3. Cut onions and tomatoes to small pieces.
  1. In a few drops of oil fry the chopped onions, tomatoes and other spices.
  2. Grind the above fried items into a smooth paste. ( wash the blender's container with a little water and you can use this in the following steps)
  3. In a kadai / non stick pan add a teaspoon of oil and the butter. Add the ground paste and the chilli powder. Add some water and the washed water from step 2.
  4. Let this boil for 7 to 10 minutes till the raw smell of the onion and spices disappear.
  5. Add the green peas and the panneer.
  6. Let it cook for another 2 minutes in low heat.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
This Paneer Butter Masala goes well with rotis, Chapatis, Jeera rice and even with toasted bread.
