Tomato Onion-Garlic Soup

    

A very healthy soup during cold,flu or during chill weather.Good as an appetiser. A good pathiyam or diet food for new mothers.
Ingredients for 2
  1. Fresh ripe tomatoes 2-3
  2. Big onion - 1/2
  3. Garlic clove 2-3
  4. Green chilli 1-2
  5. Coriander leaves (Parsley) - a few leaves
  6. Soup stick (optional) as many as required
  7. Bread slices (optional) - 3-4
  8. Salt , Pepper powder to taste
  9. Fresh cream (optional) - 2 teaspoon
Pre-Preparation:
  1. Cut the bread slices into small cubes
  2. Heat a frying pan/tava or preheat the oven.
  3. Place the bread pieces in the pan /oven and on a low flame/heat toast them till they are browned and crisp on both sides.
  4. Set aside
Preparation:
  1. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly
  2. In a bowl of boiling water, add the tomatoes,onion pieces,garlic,chillies and coriander leaves.
  3. Once the tomatoes are cooked, and appears soft put the cooked tomatoes in the blender without adding any water
  4. Grind the tomatoes along with other ingredients thoroughly
  5. Using a strainer, transfer the puree into a bowl.Dilute if required with a little water
  6. Let this boil for a few minutes till it thickens slightly
  7. Pour the steaming hot soup in soup bowls.
  8. Add the bread pieces.
  9. (Optional) Garnish the soup with coriander leaves and add a swirl of fresh cream.
  10. Salt and pepper can be added if needed
  11. Serve hot with soup sticks
