Carrot Kosumalli

காரட் கோசுமல்லி

Ingredients

  1. Fresh Juicy Carrots - 3 to 4
  2. Moong dal ( payatham paruppu) - 1/2 cup
  3. Green Chillies - 1
  4. Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  5. Lemon - 1 ( lemon juice 2 teaspoons)
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Freshly grated coconut - 2 teaspoons ( optional)
Pre- Preparation
  1. Wash the moong dal and soak it in drinking water for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  2. Wash the carrots thoroughly and peel them.
Preparation:
  1. Using a grater, grate the carrots in a bowl.
  2. Drain the water thoroughly from the moong dal using a strainer and add the dal.
  3. Cut a green chilli into small pieces and them.
  4. Add salt and the lemon juice. ( Squeeze a fresh lime if you have a whole lemon).
  5. In a skillet heat a spoon of oil and add the mustard seeds. After it splutters pour this into the bowl where you have the carrot.
  6. Mix thoroughly. Optionally you can add freshly grated coconut also.
